How wishlist demand is counted

Understand the customer-aware model behind active wishlist demand-so the products your reports highlight reflect real people who still care, not inflated counts from duplicate list entries.

A customer-aware view of real demand

GoScript Advanced Wishlist WordPress Plugin for WooCommerce measures current wishlist demand at the customer-product level. That means the reports recognise each customer who currently has a product saved, while avoiding inflated demand if the same customer keeps that product in more than one wishlist.

1. How an active-demand relationship is created

When a signed-in customer saves a product, the plugin tracks the live relationship between that customer and the product. The first active save creates one unit of current demand for that product.

First active saveWhen a customer first saves a product, the plugin creates an active customer-product relationship and records a Wishlist Add for the period.
Additional list referencesIf the same customer saves the product in another wishlist, the plugin keeps the relationship active without counting another Current Wishlister.
One customer per productA customer can contribute only one active-demand count to a product, even if they organise it across several wishlists.
Live product demandThe product’s Current Wishlisters count is updated from those active customer-product relationships.

2. How demand is removed without losing accuracy

Removing a product from one wishlist does not necessarily end the customer’s interest. The plugin only removes the customer from the product’s active demand count when they no longer have that product saved in any of their wishlists.

  • If a customer removes one of several saved references, their active product interest remains counted.
  • If a customer removes their final saved reference to the product, the active customer-product relationship ends.
  • That final active-to-inactive change updates the product’s Current Wishlisters count and records the relevant Wishlist Removal activity.
  • The result is a demand metric that stays aligned with the products customers still genuinely keep on a wishlist.

3. How this model improves Wishlist Intelligence

Counting distinct customer interest gives the demand-focused reports a more trustworthy foundation. It helps you compare products by the size of their active audience instead of by how individual shoppers choose to organise their lists.

  1. Use Current Wishlisters to see the distinct customer audience a product has right now.
  2. Use Most Wanted Products to rank products by that active demand.
  3. Use Products Worth Attention to find meaningful active demand with purchase progress that deserves a closer review.
  4. Use Wishlist Demand - Out of Stock to see when active customer interest remains for unavailable products.
  5. Use Adds, Momentum, and the Activity Trend when you want to understand how fresh interest is changing over time.

4. Use demand counts with confidence

The customer-product model makes Current Wishlisters a strong merchandising signal. It gives you a clear way to prioritise the products customers are actively considering while staying grounded in real, account-linked activity on your own store.

  • Use the count to compare current customer interest across products and collections.
  • Pair it with new Wishlist Adds to separate sustained demand from interest that is just beginning to grow.
  • Pair it with purchase and revenue metrics to understand how active interest is progressing into outcomes.
  • Use it as a customer-aware signal in stock, product visibility, and merchandising discussions.
