What this checklist puts in place
Advanced Wishlist is built around logged-in WooCommerce customers. The strongest first setup gives shoppers a clear way to save products, a familiar account area to manage those products later, and a secure path for sharing a list when they choose.
1. Complete the essential setup checks
- Activate your license. Open Advanced Wishlist → License and confirm the plugin shows Enabled.
- Confirm customer accounts are available. Wishlist saving is intentionally account-linked, keeping each customer’s saved products available whenever they return and sign in.
- Review button placement. In Advanced Wishlist → Settings, check the single-product and product-grid controls. Both are enabled by default, with a single-product button after Add to Cart and a grid button in the top-right position.
- Review the Wishlist page. Activation creates a published Wishlist page for secure shared-list routes. Open it in WordPress, confirm it suits your theme, and keep the
[goscript_shared_wishlist]shortcode in its content if you change the page. - Choose sensible list limits. The default allows up to 10 wishlists per account and 100 products in each list-enough room for real shopping ideas while keeping the experience tidy.
2. Make the first save feel intentional
Visit one of your product pages and make sure the wishlist button appears alongside the buying flow in a way that feels natural for your theme. The default heart, icon-and-text presentation, and minimal button preset provide a clean starting point; your store can later tailor the wording, size, borders, colour, or theme-button treatment.
3. Run one customer journey
Sign in with a test customer account, save a product, and open My Account → Wishlists. The plugin creates My Wishlist when it is first needed, so you can immediately verify the real customer experience instead of managing empty lists for every account.
- Save a simple product, then confirm it appears in My Wishlist.
- For a variable product, choose an option first and confirm the selected variation remains meaningful in the saved item.
- Check that an available saved product can move naturally back into the WooCommerce Cart.
- Open the shared-list settings only after the core saving journey feels right for your store.
