Data lifecycle and uninstall behavior

Keep the customer wishlists and demand insight you have built-or choose a clean, permanent reset when your store truly needs one.

Data is kept by default

GoScript Advanced Wishlist WordPress Plugin for WooCommerce is designed to preserve the customer experience and store insight you have already built. Deactivating the plugin keeps its data in place, and a normal uninstall also retains it by default-so you can confidently return to the plugin without losing your wishlist foundation.

1. What happens in each scenario

The plugin treats temporary changes and permanent removal differently, giving you control without making routine maintenance risky.

DeactivationDisabling the plugin does not erase its wishlists, settings, or reporting foundation. You can reactivate later and continue from where you left off.
Normal uninstallUninstalling with the Data lifecycle option left off preserves Advanced Wishlist data by default.
Reporting continuityRetained data helps your Wishlist Intelligence history remain available if you reinstall and activate the plugin again.
Explicit cleanupThe optional removal setting lets you deliberately clear plugin data as part of a planned permanent reset.

2. Enable permanent removal only when needed

If you are permanently removing Advanced Wishlist from a store and have decided the associated data should not remain, enable the dedicated option before uninstalling the plugin.

  1. Review the customer and reporting data you want to preserve or export first.
  2. In WordPress, open GoScript Advanced Wishlist → Settings.
  3. Find the Data lifecycle section.
  4. Enable Remove all Smart Wishlist data when the plugin is uninstalled.
  5. Select Save changes.
  6. Only then uninstall the plugin from the WordPress Plugins screen.

3. What the removal option does-and does not-remove

The option is scoped to data created and managed by the plugin. It is designed to clean up Advanced Wishlist’s own footprint without touching the products and normal WordPress content your store relies on.

  • Removes plugin wishlist collections and saved-item records.
  • Removes plugin reporting, product-demand, and attribution data.
  • Removes Advanced Wishlist configuration options, including placement, presentation, sharing, account, and threshold settings.
  • Does not delete your WooCommerce products, orders, customers, or normal WordPress content.
  • Does not delete the selected Shared Wishlist Page itself; it remains a normal WordPress page you can reuse or remove separately if you choose.

4. Make a confident data decision

For most stores, keeping data is the right default because it protects customer continuity and the insight built from real shopper activity. Use permanent removal only when the plugin is being retired from the store and the data should be intentionally cleared.

  1. Leave the removal setting disabled for routine deactivation, troubleshooting, temporary maintenance, or a future return to the plugin.
  2. Review the WordPress personal-data and reporting needs of your store before choosing a permanent cleanup.
  3. Export or record any information you need to retain outside the plugin.
  4. Enable the setting, save it, and uninstall only when you are sure the permanent cleanup is appropriate.
