Customer Wishlists

Understanding saved-price changes

Give customers a helpful on-screen signal when a product they saved is now available at a lower current price, so returning to a wishlist can feel even more rewarding.

A helpful returning-customer signal

When a customer saves a product, GoScript Advanced Wishlist for WooCommerce records the current price of that saved selection when a valid price is available. Later, while the customer views their own wishlist, the plugin can show a clear lower-price indication if the product’s current price has fallen below that saved baseline.

1. How the comparison works

The price indication is deliberately simple: it compares the current purchasable selection with the price captured when the item was first saved.

  1. A signed-in customer saves a product or a valid selected variation.
  2. The plugin captures the selection’s current price as the saved-price baseline when a numeric price is available.
  3. The customer returns to My Account → Wishlists.
  4. The plugin reads the current price for that product or selected variation.
  5. If the current price is lower than the saved baseline, the wishlist displays a lower since added percentage indication.

2. When the indicator appears

The comparison is designed to stay useful and restrained. It appears only when the available information supports a genuine lower-than-saved result.

Valid saved baselineThe item needs a numeric, positive price captured when it was saved.
Valid current priceThe current product or selected variation needs an available numeric price to compare.
Current price is lowerThe indication appears only when the current price is below the saved baseline.
Selection-awareFor a saved variation, the comparison uses that selected variation rather than treating every option as the same item.

3. Set the right expectations

This comparison gives customers a timely reason to take another look at a saved product. It is an informative on-page cue, not a promise of a specific discount or a separate price-monitoring service.

  • Save a product with a known regular price using a test customer account.
  • Change the product’s current price to a lower value in a safe test environment.
  • Open the customer’s own wishlist and confirm the lower-since-added indication appears.
  • Confirm the indication does not appear when the current price is the same as or higher than the saved baseline.
  • Create a shared wishlist link and confirm that the stored price baseline is not exposed on the public page.
