Customer Wishlists

Adding private notes to wishlist items

Help customers remember the personal context behind a saved product, so the wishlist becomes a more useful companion to the decisions they plan to make later.

Save the reason, not just the product

Customers do not always save a product for the same reason. A private note in GoScript Advanced Wishlist for WooCommerce gives them room to capture the details that make a product meaningful-an occasion, a preferred option, a reminder, or a quick comparison point.

1. Add or edit a note

Customers manage notes directly alongside their saved items, keeping the context close to the product it belongs to.

  1. Sign in and open My Account → Wishlists.
  2. Open the list containing the saved product.
  3. Select Add note or the note-editing action for that item.
  4. Write the note and select Save note.
  5. Return to the item later and use the same editor to update or remove the note.

2. What private notes support

Notes are deliberately lightweight, but they can make a wishlist feel much more personal and actionable-especially when a customer is collecting ideas over time.

Remember an occasionCapture a detail such as a birthday, seasonal project, or person the product is for.
Record a preferenceKeep a short reminder about a size, style, colour, or comparison point.
Pair with priorityUse a note alongside the priority star when a saved product deserves extra attention.
Share safelyA customer can share a wishlist without revealing the private notes that help them organise it.

3. Keep notes clear and private

Notes are intended for concise customer context. Keeping them brief makes the wishlist easier to scan and gives customers a useful reminder without turning a saved product into a long-form record.

  • Each private note can contain up to 250 characters.
  • Test saving a note, updating it, and removing it with a customer account.
  • Copy or move an item to another wishlist and confirm its note stays with the saved selection.
  • Create a share link and confirm the public shared wishlist does not display the private note.
  • Use notes for helpful product context rather than sensitive information.
