Shared-list privacy

Let customers share the products they love with confidence-while keeping account details, private notes, and saved-price context out of the public view.

Sharing designed for customer control

GoScript Advanced Wishlist WordPress Plugin for WooCommerce makes it simple for customers to share a carefully chosen list without opening up their account or private wishlist workspace. Each shared list uses its own secure link and stays under the list owner’s control.

When the list owner enables sharing, the plugin creates a unique, non-guessable token for that wishlist. The token is used to resolve the public shared page without placing the customer account ID in the URL.

Unique shared URLEach enabled list receives its own random, URL-safe sharing token rather than an account or list-owner identifier.
List-specific accessThe link is tied to the selected wishlist, so sharing one list does not provide a view of the customer’s other wishlists.
Revocable controlOwners can regenerate their link or disable sharing altogether whenever they want to change access.
Search-conscious pagesActive shared-list requests receive a noindex directive and no-cache headers, helping keep links out of search results and cached page copies.

2. What visitors can see on a shared list

The public shared page is intentionally focused on the products a customer wants to share. Visitors can use it as a clear shopping reference without being shown the private information used to organise the owner’s wishlist.

  • The shared wishlist name and available products in that list are displayed.
  • Visitors can see product images, names, current price information, and current stock information where WooCommerce provides it.
  • Priority items can be identified as priority on the shared page.
  • Available, purchasable products can offer the normal WooCommerce add-to-cart action.
  • For saved variations, the shared page can direct visitors to the matching purchasable variation.

3. What remains private

Sharing is deliberately narrower than the account wishlist experience. It lets customers reveal a helpful product collection while keeping personal context and account data where it belongs.

  • Private notes are not retrieved or displayed on the shared wishlist page.
  • Saved-price baselines are not retrieved or displayed on the shared wishlist page.
  • The owner’s WordPress or WooCommerce account ID is not exposed through the shared URL.
  • Visitors cannot use the link to edit the list, manage list items, or reach the customer’s account area.
  • Other wishlists belonging to the same customer remain private.

4. Regenerate or disable access

Customers retain control after a link has been shared. They can replace a link when its audience changes or turn sharing off when the list should no longer be publicly accessible.

  1. Open the relevant wishlist from My Account → Wishlists.
  2. Choose Regenerate link to create a new shared URL for the list.
  3. The previous URL stops resolving once the replacement is created.
  4. Choose Disable sharing when the list should no longer be accessible from a shared link.
  5. Anyone opening an inactive or replaced link sees that the wishlist is no longer available.

5. Give customers a confident way to share

Well-designed sharing can make a wishlist more useful for gift ideas, family purchases, and future shopping plans. Advanced Wishlist gives customers that convenience while keeping the public experience focused on exactly what they chose to share.
