Troubleshooting

Signed-out visitors cannot save products

This is expected: Advanced Wishlist is built around WooCommerce customer accounts, so saved products stay connected to the shopper and are ready when they return.

Why sign-in is part of the experience

GoScript Advanced Wishlist WordPress Plugin for WooCommerce uses customer accounts instead of temporary guest wishlists. This gives shoppers a dependable place to return to their saved products from any device, with their lists, selected variations, notes, priorities, and sharing choices kept together.

1. What the signed-out visitor sees

The wishlist button can still appear for visitors who are not signed in. When they select it, the plugin opens a focused sign-in dialog instead of trying to save an unconnected, temporary item.

Visible wishlist actionVisitors can discover the wishlist feature on product pages and grids before they have an account session.
Sign-in promptSelecting the button opens the merchant-configured dialog that explains how to continue.
Chosen login pathThe dialog directs visitors to the WordPress page you select for account login.
Optional account creationWhen you configure a registration page, the dialog can also offer a dedicated Create account action.

2. Configure a smooth login and registration path

Use the Login requirement settings to make the prompt sound like your store and send customers to the right account pages.

  1. In WordPress, open Advanced Wishlist → Settings.
  2. Find the Login requirement section.
  3. Set a clear Heading and Message that explain the benefit of signing in, such as returning to saved products later.
  4. Choose the WordPress page to use as the Login page. By default, this can be your WooCommerce My Account page.
  5. Optionally choose a Registration page if you offer a dedicated account-creation journey.
  6. Set the labels for the login and registration buttons, then save your settings.

3. Make the message work harder for your store

A useful prompt gives visitors a reason to create or use an account. Keep it short, customer-focused, and connected to the benefit of saving products for later.

  • Explain that an account keeps saved products available whenever the shopper returns.
  • Use a friendly login button label that matches the wording on your existing account pages.
  • Offer a registration route only if you have a clear, working registration page for new customers.
  • Keep the dialog wording aligned with your store voice and account policy.
  • Test the flow in a private browser window to experience it exactly as a new visitor would.

4. Check your account pages

If a visitor reaches the login dialog but cannot successfully continue, the wishlist button is doing its job-the next check is the account destination configured by your store.

  • Confirm the selected Login page is published and accessible to signed-out visitors.
  • Confirm the Registration page is published if you have configured one.
  • Review the relevant WooCommerce or membership-plugin settings to ensure your store permits the registration experience you intend to offer.
  • Open both destinations in a signed-out browser session and complete a quick end-to-end check.
  • After signing in, return to a product and confirm that the wishlist button saves the item to My Wishlist.

Turn a sign-in moment into a return visit

Account-first wishlists give customers a durable reason to come back. With a clear login and registration path, the moment they decide to save a product becomes the beginning of a more useful, long-term relationship with your store.
