Troubleshooting

Cart recommendations look outdated

Refresh Cart recommendation results after a meaningful strategy or catalogue change, then confirm the shopper-facing section reflects the current direction of your store.

A cached result keeps the Cart quick-until you are ready to refresh it

The GoScript Smart Cart Recommendations WordPress plugin caches recommendation output for the duration you choose. This helps the main Cart stay responsive while preserving the current result for the same normalised Cart products, recommendation context, settings signature, and cache version.

When you intentionally change the strategy, the cache tools give you a clear path to review a freshly calculated result instead of waiting for the previous cache duration to end.

When a refresh is worth doing

Refresh after meaningful changes to recommendation settings, such as placement, the history window, included statuses, shared-order threshold, category or tag matching, fallback behaviour, global exclusions, content settings, or cache duration.

Strategy changesRefresh after you refine the rules that shape candidate selection or the Cart section’s display.
Catalogue reviewRefresh when you are actively testing how a changed product setup, availability, or manual pairing affects the live Cart.

A deliberate refresh is especially useful when your team is evaluating an adjustment and wants a clear before-and-after Cart review.

Save Settings to advance the cache version

Saving Smart Cart Recommendations Settings advances the cache version. Existing cached results no longer match the new version, so the next qualifying Cart request can calculate its recommendation output using your updated global settings.

This is the natural refresh route whenever you have changed a setting you want to keep.

Use the cache-clear action for an immediate fresh result

  1. Open Smart Cart Recommendations → Settings.
  2. Save any configuration changes you want to apply.
  3. Use the dedicated cache-clear action when you want saved recommendation results cleared without making another settings change.
  4. Refresh a representative main Cart and review the recalculated section.

The dedicated action is ideal for active testing: it lets you prompt a clean result while leaving your current settings untouched.

Test the same Cart context you are trying to improve

Recommendation output is Cart-specific. Use the same product combination, Cart subtotal, and main Cart surface when comparing the previous and refreshed result. A different Cart may legitimately produce different suggestions because it contributes different candidate evidence and final eligibility conditions.

Confirm the result is still shopper-ready

A refreshed candidate still needs to pass the normal final checks. Products already in the Cart, duplicates, unpublished products, hidden products, out-of-stock products, non-purchasable products, and globally excluded products are removed before display.

If a product no longer appears after a refresh, review its source, availability, exclusions, and the Cart context before assuming the cache is the cause.

Use refreshing as part of a confident optimisation loop

Cache controls are not just a troubleshooting tool. They make it practical to test fresh Cart recommendation ideas, review their live presentation, and refine your strategy in step with your catalogue and shopper activity.

The GoScript Smart Cart Recommendations WordPress plugin gives you the speed of caching and the control of a clear refresh path-so you can keep the Cart experience purposeful as your store evolves.
