Troubleshooting

Cart recommendations are not showing

Most display issues have a clear, quick path forward. Use this guide to confirm the Cart conditions, recommendation sources, and controls behind a visible section.

Start with the Cart conditions that unlock a useful section

The GoScript Smart Cart Recommendations WordPress plugin shows recommendations only when the current Cart and your saved setup support a useful result. That gives you reliable control over when the section appears-and a focused checklist whenever you want to bring it into view.

Work through the checks below in order. In most cases, one setting, Cart condition, or candidate rule reveals the next step quickly.

1. Confirm the plugin runtime is available

Open Smart Cart Recommendations → License and confirm the site has a license state that allows the plugin runtime to run. An active trial or active paid license enables normal Cart recommendations. A paid license that has expired can keep an already activated site running, while an expired trial, revoked license, or unlicensed site does not register the storefront runtime.

If the License page needs attention, complete activation or verification first, then return to the Cart with a fresh page load.

2. Confirm the main display settings

  1. Open Smart Cart Recommendations → Settings.
  2. Confirm Cart recommendations are enabled and choose the intended placement above or below the main Cart.
  3. Review the minimum Cart subtotal and make sure the current Cart meets it.
  4. Save Settings, then refresh the Cart to review the updated result.

The plugin is purpose-built for the main WooCommerce Cart. It does not add a recommendation section to the mini-cart, cart drawer, checkout, product pages, or after-purchase screens.

3. Check for a product that suppresses Cart recommendations

A product-level suppression setting disables the Cart recommendation section whenever that product is present in the Cart. This applies even when other Cart products could otherwise provide recommendation context.

4. Confirm there is a useful recommendation source

For global smart recommendations, WooCommerce Analytics must be available and the required wc_order_product_lookup and wc_order_stats tables must be ready. The current Cart products also need qualifying co-purchase evidence under your saved history window, statuses, minimum shared-order threshold, and optional category or tag rule.

Manual recommendations and selected fallbacks provide additional paths when historical matches are limited. Review the product-level mode and your fallback setting to make sure your strategy gives the Cart a suitable candidate source.

5. Review final eligibility and exclusions

Before display, the plugin removes products already in the Cart, duplicate candidates, unpublished products, hidden products, out-of-stock products, non-purchasable products, and products excluded globally by product, category, or tag.

That protection keeps the section useful for shoppers, but it can also mean a small candidate pool is reduced to no visible products. Review product availability and exclusions, then test again with a representative Cart.

6. Refresh after meaningful changes

Recommendation results are cached for the duration you configure. Saving Settings advances the cache version, and the plugin also provides a dedicated cache-clear action. Use either route after a meaningful change, then refresh the main Cart to request a fresh result.

7. Check the Cart surface you are testing

Smart Cart Recommendations supports both classic WooCommerce Cart templates and the WooCommerce Cart Block. Confirm you are testing your store’s main Cart page in the same theme and WooCommerce setup your shoppers use, rather than a mini-cart or another unsupported surface.

If every setup check looks right but the section still is not displaying, use the focused guides below to inspect order history, Analytics readiness, product eligibility, or Cart Block presentation in more detail.

Continue with the focused checks that most often explain a Cart section without eligible recommendations.
