Clicks show when a Cart suggestion earns attention
The GoScript Smart Cart Recommendations WordPress plugin can record valid interactions with products displayed in its Cart recommendation section. A click is a strong first signal that a shopper found a suggested product worth exploring, giving you practical evidence to guide future merchandising choices.
Click reporting works alongside the rest of the local reporting system. It helps you distinguish recommendations that are visible from recommendations that are actively attracting interest.
Which interactions count as a recommendation click?
The frontend records a click when a shopper interacts with a valid, eligible product that is actually displayed in the Cart recommendation section. The supported click targets are the recommended product’s image, title, and Add to Cart link.
This keeps the metric closely tied to the recommendation experience you have configured, rather than counting unrelated activity elsewhere on the store.
Turn tracking on before you evaluate performance
Click tracking is controlled from Smart Cart Recommendations Settings. Keep Track recommendation interactions enabled when you want to measure how shoppers engage with displayed suggestions and use the reports to guide refinement.
- Open Smart Cart Recommendations → Settings.
- Confirm Track recommendation interactions is enabled.
- Save your Settings and test a Cart where the recommendation section is visible.
- Use the Reports page after shopper activity has had time to accumulate.
Without interaction tracking enabled, the plugin does not record the click events that feed the click and attribution reporting views.
Why click cooldown keeps the signal useful
The configurable click cooldown prevents repeated clicks on the same recommended product from the same local visitor hash from being counted too frequently. This helps the report remain a more useful measure of meaningful interest instead of a tally of rapid repeat interactions.
Keep click measurement local and privacy-conscious
Recommendation and reporting data stay in your WordPress installation. For click-to-purchase matching, the plugin uses a temporary one-way visitor hash derived locally; it does not store raw IP addresses, raw browser user-agent strings, or create a dedicated analytics cookie.
Licensing is separate from this reporting flow and communicates only the information needed to activate and validate the plugin license.
Use clicks to improve the next Cart experience
Review click activity alongside the products being recommended, your Cart placement, title, product count, matching rule, and fallback behaviour. Consistent engagement can help you spot recommendations that deserve more attention, while low engagement can prompt a thoughtful change in strategy.
A click does not by itself represent a purchase. It is an encouraging engagement signal that becomes even more useful when you pair it with the attributed-order and revenue views in the rest of the reporting workspace.
