Troubleshooting

License or trial issues

Use the License page to understand your current access state, restore a valid trial or paid license, and keep your Cart recommendation strategy moving forward.

Start with a clear view of your current license state

Open Smart Cart Recommendations → License in your WordPress dashboard. The GoScript Smart Cart Recommendations WordPress plugin License page is the central place to view the license type, status, runtime state, expiry information, trial progress, activation controls, verification retry, replacement, and deactivation actions.

It gives you a focused, practical path to resolve access questions without losing the Cart recommendation strategy you have already configured.

What an active license or trial enables

An active paid license or active trial enables normal plugin administration and the Cart recommendation runtime. You can configure placement, recommendation logic, product-level controls, fallbacks, exclusions, tracking, and local reporting from the plugin’s own admin area.

Trial activeExplore the full Cart recommendation experience while trial progress is visible on the License page.
Paid activeConfigure, publish, and measure the Cart strategy from your WooCommerce store.

Activate or replace a license key

  1. Open Smart Cart Recommendations → License.
  2. Enter the license key from your GoScript account or purchase email.
  3. Select Activate License, or follow the replacement activation flow when switching to another valid key.
  4. Wait for the License page to confirm the updated status and runtime availability.

Your license key is sent only when you activate or replace a license; it is not retained after activation. Keeping the key in your GoScript account or purchase email gives you a reliable source whenever you need it again.

Use Retry verification when the page asks for it

The plugin uses an installation-specific, signed local license state and scheduled revalidation. If the License page indicates that verification should be retried, use the available Retry verification action before reinstalling the plugin or changing unrelated recommendation settings.

Understand trial and paid-license expiry behavior

When a trial expires, the Cart recommendation runtime and commercial tracking stop until a valid paid license is activated. With no license or a revoked license, the plugin keeps the License page available while its storefront runtime and feature pages are not registered.

A paid license that has expired is different: an already activated site keeps working, while new downloads and new site activations are unavailable until the license is renewed. Your existing plugin settings and stored reporting data are preserved.

Release an activation deliberately

Use the explicit Deactivate License action on the License page when you need to release an activation. Deactivating the WordPress plugin itself does not automatically deactivate its GoScript license or release an activation seat.

This gives you a controlled handover path when you are moving an installation or changing the store setup.

Use a quick recovery checklist

  1. Open the License page and read the current status, runtime state, and expiry information.
  2. Activate or replace the key if the site needs a valid trial or paid license.
  3. Use Retry verification if the License page requests it.
  4. Refresh the main Cart after the License page confirms the expected runtime state.

If the Cart section is still not visible after the runtime is available, continue with the display troubleshooting guide to review Settings, candidate sources, and Cart conditions.

Keep the progress you have already made

License and trial states control access to the Cart recommendation runtime, but they do not need to reset your strategy. Your saved settings and stored reporting data remain available for the next active period, giving you a strong foundation to continue from once access is restored.

Next steps

Continue with the focused guides for activation, trial behavior, and Cart display once the expected runtime state is available.
