Disabling Cart recommendations for a specific product

Keep recommendation space purposeful by choosing the individual products that should lead shoppers straight to checkout without triggering Cart suggestions.

Give selected Cart products a focused checkout path

The GoScript Smart Cart Recommendations WordPress plugin lets you disable Cart recommendations for an individual product. When that product is present in the shopper’s Cart, the Cart recommendation section does not appear for that Cart.

This product-level choice gives you a confident way to protect items that already have a complete Cart experience, need a more focused buying path, or simply do not fit your current cross-sell strategy.

When to disable recommendations for a product

Use the setting for products where extra discovery would not add value to the Cart moment. This can include a highly focused purchase, a product with a specialised checkout flow, or a strategic item you want shoppers to complete without additional suggestions.

Protect focused purchase pathsLet selected products carry the Cart experience without adding a recommendation prompt.
Stay selectively in controlApply the choice only where it makes sense while smart recommendations remain active elsewhere.

It is a focused control rather than a global switch: your other eligible Cart products can continue to use their own global or manual recommendation settings.

Disable recommendations in the product settings

  1. Open the product in WooCommerce.
  2. Find the Smart Cart Recommendations product-level settings.
  3. Choose the option that disables Cart recommendations for this product.
  4. Update the product, then review a Cart containing that item.

The product-level setting takes precedence for that product, so you can make a clear exception without changing your global Cart recommendation configuration.

How this affects mixed Carts

When a Cart contains a product configured to suppress Cart recommendations, the recommendation section does not appear for that Cart-even when other Cart products would otherwise be eligible to provide recommendation context.

Use disabling alongside your wider product strategy

Disabling a product from triggering recommendations is different from globally excluding a product as a recommendation candidate. Use the product-level disable control to shape the Cart context; use global exclusions when a product, category, or tag should not be shown as a suggestion anywhere.

Combined with manual recommendations, global smart recommendations, Cart placement, and fallback behaviour, this gives the GoScript Smart Cart Recommendations WordPress plugin room to match the experience to each part of your catalogue.
