How It Works

How recommendations from multiple Cart products are combined

A fuller Cart can reveal a richer buying context. Smart Cart Recommendations brings the relevant product relationships together into one clear set of suggestions before checkout.

The Cart is more than a single product signal

Shoppers often reach the Cart with more than one item in mind. The GoScript Smart Cart Recommendations WordPress plugin treats those products as a combined context, so it can look beyond one isolated pairing and surface suggestions that fit the Cart as it stands.

Instead of creating a separate recommendation section for every Cart item, the plugin builds one focused result set for the main Cart. That keeps discovery useful without making the checkout path feel fragmented or repetitive.

Global-mode Cart products contribute co-purchase evidence

For every eligible Cart product using global Smart Recommendations, the plugin finds qualifying historical co-purchase candidates from WooCommerce Analytics data. It then combines the available evidence across the relevant Cart products and ranks candidates by the resulting shared-order strength.

More Cart contextEach eligible Cart product can contribute relevant co-purchase relationships to the same final suggestion set.
One ranked resultCombined shared-order evidence helps the plugin prioritise candidates with the strongest connection to the current Cart.

This gives the Cart section a practical way to respond as shoppers add complementary products and their intended purchase becomes more specific.

Manual product choices join the same Cart experience

When a Cart product is set to manual mode, its merchant-selected recommendation list joins the available candidate pool alongside global-mode history-based candidates from other relevant Cart products. Manual choices still pass availability and global-exclusion checks before they can appear.

This means you can keep direct control over strategic pairings while letting the rest of the Cart benefit from the purchase evidence already present in your WooCommerce history.

The final list is cleaned up before display

After candidates have been combined, Smart Cart Recommendations removes duplicates and products already in the Cart. It also applies the final availability, visibility, purchasability, stock, and exclusion checks before the section is displayed.

If fewer products remain than the number you have chosen to show, your configured fallback can fill the open spaces with qualifying best sellers or newest products. You can also choose no fallback for a more selective result.

A single product can intentionally pause the section

If any product in the Cart has its product-level Cart suppression setting enabled, the recommendation section does not appear for that Cart. This gives you a simple way to keep the Cart experience focused for products where additional suggestions would be inappropriate or distracting.

Test with Cart combinations your customers actually build

Try a few realistic multi-product Carts after configuring your rules. Compare the results with a single-product Cart, a Cart that contains a manual-mode product, and a Cart that should trigger your fallback. This is the quickest way to see how combined context shapes the final section for your own catalogue.
