Settings & Controls

Global settings overview

Smart Related Products puts practical recommendation control in your hands through five focused settings areas, without asking you to rebuild your theme layout.

Five ways to shape smarter recommendations

Open Smart Related Products → Settings to configure the plugin. The screen groups the controls that shape what shoppers see and the recommendation strategy behind the native WooCommerce Related products area.

Smart RecommendationsEnable the feature, choose products to show, and select a fallback.
Order History & MatchingSet the history period, statuses, threshold, and optional category or tag rule.
Recommendation ExclusionsExclude products, categories, and tags.
Cache & RefreshSet cache duration and clear saved recommendation results.
Tracking & AttributionControl interaction tracking, attribution window, and repeat-click cooldown.

Start with the controls that shape relevance

Choose how many products to show, then set a practical history period, qualifying statuses, and minimum shared-order threshold. These controls shape the available smart recommendation pool before exclusions and fallbacks apply.

Fine-tune instead of rebuilding

Use exclusions when a product should never be suggested, use cache controls after important rule changes, and use product-level controls only when an individual product needs a deliberate exception. Use the dedicated Tracking & Attribution guide when you are ready to configure the reporting controls in detail.

  • Begin with global settings so similar products follow the same logic.
  • Use product-level modes for manual, default, disabled, or exceptional products.
  • Use Tracking & Attribution to build meaningful reporting insight from recommendation journeys.
