Smart Related Products calculates recommendation candidates on demand and caches the result. This lets the plugin reuse stored work while keeping the recommendation flow responsive for the storefront.

Choose a cache duration

In Cache & Refresh, choose how long saved recommendation results can be reused. Use a duration that fits how often your catalogue, stock, and recommendation rules change.

Longer durationUseful for a more stable catalogue and recommendation rule set.

Shorter durationUseful when product relationships or rules need to react more often.

Refresh results when your strategy evolves

Use the clear-cache action after a meaningful change to recommendation rules, exclusions, or related configuration when you need a fresh saved result right away.

1. Update the relevant settings or product-level choice.
2. Open the Cache & Refresh settings area.
3. Clear the saved recommendation results.
4. The next relevant request calculates a new result using the current rules.

When to refresh

Clear cached results after a change that should affect which related products a shopper sees. You do not need to clear the cache simply because an individual candidate becomes unavailable-the final output check handles that case.
