Keep product discovery moving
A product can have too little qualifying co-purchase history, or its smart candidates can be removed by eligibility and exclusion rules. A fallback lets you decide what happens next instead of leaving that experience to chance.
Available fallback choices
Global settings let you choose the behavior that best fits your catalogue and the amount of order history available to it.
Choose a fallback that fits the store
Use a fallback that makes sense for your catalogue rather than treating every low-data product the same way. Stores with growing order history often use a fallback while co-purchase relationships develop; stores with very deliberate merchandising may prefer WooCommerce defaults or no result.
- Choose best sellers or newest products when you want a relevant category or tag-based safety net.
- Choose WooCommerce defaults when you want to retain the store’s ordinary related-product selection.
- Choose no result when an empty section is preferable to a weaker suggestion.
Product-level choices still take priority
For a product that needs a different answer, use the Smart Related Products tab in the product editor. You can use global smart recommendations, disable related products, use WooCommerce defaults, or select specific products manually.
