Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to the questions merchants ask most when they are ready to make their Related products section more relevant with real WooCommerce order history.

How are Smart Related Products chosen?

Smart Related Products looks at the qualifying recent WooCommerce orders containing the product a shopper is viewing. It finds the other products purchased in those same orders, ranks candidates by distinct shared orders, then applies your minimum threshold, matching rule, exclusions, and product-level controls.

The result is a practical way to help shoppers discover products that past customers genuinely bought together-while you stay in control of how selective each recommendation should be.

Will it change my store’s product-page design?

No. The plugin supplies the final related-product IDs to WooCommerce; your active theme continues to render the normal Related products section and product cards. That means smarter recommendations can fit naturally into the product-page experience customers already know.

What if a product does not have enough order history?

Every catalogue develops at a different pace, so you can choose a useful fallback for products with limited qualifying co-purchase data. Show nothing, retain WooCommerce’s default related products, or use relevant best sellers or newest products from the selected category/tag context.

This keeps the experience deliberate while a product builds the order history that can support stronger smart relationships.

Can I choose related products manually?

Yes. The Smart Related Products tab in the product editor gives you product-level control. You can keep using global smart recommendations, disable related products, return to WooCommerce defaults, or select specific products manually for a focused merchandising exception.

Automation where it helpsUse global rules to cover the catalogue efficiently.
Direct control where it mattersSet tailored related products for strategic or special-case items.

Can I exclude products, categories, or tags?

Yes. Global exclusions let you keep individual products, categories, and tags out of smart recommendations. The plugin also removes unavailable, hidden, unpublished, out-of-stock, non-purchasable, duplicated, and otherwise ineligible candidates before WooCommerce receives the final list.

Those safeguards help the recommendations stay relevant to the merchandise shoppers can actually explore and purchase.

What can the reports tell me?

When Track recommendation interactions is enabled, Smart Related Products can record validated recommendation-driven clicks and connect eligible later purchases to those product relationships. Reports help you review clicks, attributed orders, conversion rate, attributed net revenue, and the current foundation of co-purchase data behind your recommendations.

Use that insight to spot the relationships engaging shoppers and refine your rules with more confidence. It is useful evidence for merchandising decisions, not a promise of a particular sales outcome.

Does the plugin send customer or recommendation data to GoScript?

No. Recommendation analytics are processed and stored locally on your WooCommerce site. Smart Related Products does not send recommendation analytics to GoScript or another external analytics service, and it does not create analytics or attribution cookies.

For purchase attribution, the plugin temporarily uses a one-way identifier derived from request information to connect a valid click with a later matching purchase. Permanent reports contain aggregate product-relationship figures rather than visitor identifiers.

What happens when my trial or paid license expires?

When a trial expires, storefront/runtime features pause until a valid paid license is activated. Your settings, reports, and other stored data remain in place, so you can restore use without rebuilding your setup. When a paid license expires, the already activated site continues to run the plugin; new downloads, future versions, and support are unavailable until renewal.
