Add price watching where customers already decide to buy
Automatic placement lets GoScript Price Drop Alerts for WooCommerce place the watch button directly in the natural purchase area of an eligible product page. It is the fastest way to make price watches available without editing a template or adding a shortcode.
Choose the location in Price Drop Alerts → Settings → Storefront → Show Watch Button. The plugin follows your selected placement across the supported WooCommerce product-page templates.
Choose before or after the purchase area
The automatic setting gives you two customer-friendly positions around WooCommerce purchase controls:
- Before: place the watch button before the purchase area when you want the price-watch option to be a prominent part of the buying decision.
- After: place it after the purchase area when you want the add-to-cart action to remain visually primary and the watch option to follow it.
There is no universally correct choice. Product type, theme layout, and customer expectations all matter. The best placement is the one shoppers can notice and understand without confusing it with Add to cart.
Supported WooCommerce product templates
Automatic placement supports both classic WooCommerce single-product templates and WooCommerce block-based single-product templates. On classic templates, the button is added around the standard product-summary purchase area. On block-based templates, the plugin hooks its dynamic Price Drop Alert block around the supported add-to-cart form or add-to-cart-with-options area.
This lets the control follow the product structure WooCommerce already provides, rather than relying on a brittle theme-specific selector. Your theme styling and the Button Style settings then determine how the control looks in that location.
The button still respects product eligibility
Automatic placement decides where the control can appear, not whether every product should show it. The plugin checks the current page and exact product state before rendering a usable watch experience.
- The plugin commercial runtime and storefront setting must be active.
- The product must be published and supported by the price-watch flow.
- Product-level pauses, exclusions, and unsuitable product states keep the control out of the customer path.
- Simple products are checked for watchability before rendering.
- Variable products guide customers to select an exact option before they can watch its price.
This protects customers from a button that would create an unclear or unusable request.
Set up automatic placement
- Open Price Drop Alerts → Settings → Storefront.
- Enable Price-Drop Alerts if it is not already enabled.
- Choose Before or After for Show Watch Button.
- Save your settings.
- Open an eligible simple product and a variable product in your theme to review the placement.
- Repeat the review while signed out to confirm the sign-in journey still feels clear.
After placement is working, review Button Style, button copy, and the confirmation message to ensure the control feels like a considered part of the product page.
When to choose manual placement instead
Choose Manual when your product template needs the watch control in a specific custom location, when a page builder controls the layout, or when your theme does not expose the purchase-area structure you want. Manual placement turns off the automatic insertion so you can place the dynamic block or shortcode intentionally.
Do not use manual placement merely to style the button. Button Style gives you visual control while preserving the convenience of automatic placement. Use manual placement when the layout itself is the reason for the change.
Test before you promote price watches
Check placement on desktop and mobile, in stock and backorderable product states you support, and across any templates you use for simple and variable products. Then create a controlled watch to confirm the placement, sign-in return, active state, and My Account handoff work as one complete customer journey.
