Restock rules and attribution window

Choose when to notify customers and how long to measure the result with GoScript Back in Stock WordPress Plugin for WooCommerce - set a practical stock threshold, then define the attribution window that connects restock emails to later purchases.

Set the conditions for a genuinely useful restock

The Restock rules section in GoScript Back in Stock for WooCommerce gives you two high-impact controls: Minimum stock quantity and Attribution window. Together, they help you decide when a product is ready to trigger customer emails and how long to measure purchases that follow.

Open Back in Stock → Settings and find the Restock rules section to set both values.

Minimum stock quantity

The minimum stock quantity sets how many units must be available before GoScript Back in Stock for WooCommerce begins restock notifications for a product with managed numeric stock. For example, a threshold of 5 waits until WooCommerce reports at least five units available before emails are prepared.

This helps stores avoid sending a notification for a very small restock when demand may quickly exceed supply. The threshold applies only when WooCommerce manages a numeric quantity. Products without managed numeric stock qualify when WooCommerce marks them in stock.

  • Choose a lower threshold when you want to alert customers as soon as stock returns.
  • Choose a higher threshold when you want more inventory in place before inviting a group of waiting customers back.
  • Backordered products do not accept new waitlist subscriptions, even if a threshold is configured.

Attribution window

The attribution window is the number of elapsed days after a restock email is sent during which a qualifying purchase can be connected to that notification. The default is seven days, and you can choose a window from 1 to 90 days.

Use a shorter window when customers in your store usually act quickly after a restock. Use a longer window when shoppers tend to compare, plan, or return later before placing an order.

The chosen window is fixed for each notification when it is sent. Updating the setting changes future notification cohorts only, so existing reporting remains stable and easy to interpret.

How a purchase qualifies for attribution

For a purchase to be attributed, the same signed-in customer must place a paid order containing the exact product or variation that was included in their restock email. The notification must come before the order is created and paid, and the payment must happen within that notification’s attribution window.

Qualified line-item revenue is reconciled if an order changes or is refunded, giving your reports a more useful view of the restocks that genuinely lead to purchases.

Set and review the rules

  1. Open Back in Stock → Settings.
  2. Find the Restock rules section.
  3. Set a minimum stock quantity that suits the demand and supply pattern for your store.
  4. Choose an attribution window between 1 and 90 days.
  5. Save your changes.
  6. Test a qualifying restock and review reporting after a customer has time to return and purchase.

Review these settings periodically as your stock levels, restocking cadence, and customer buying cycle evolve.
