1. You can place as many links you want imported at once. Just select a couple of movie links from imdb and paste them into the field.
2. No, it won’t import that as it’s not a movie page, it’s an actor.
3. Sure it’s legal, you can find this info on tons of websites absolutely free. Imdb it’s even offering download links for all this info.

@Dmos: can you explain more on this so that I can fully understand what do you exactly mean?

My belief was that all imdb content was subject to a licence except if you use their widget. If this is the case then scraping their content is clearly not legal.

You say they provide links to download all this. I would be happier if you could detail the specific links that permit this.

@jack: Thanks. No, Wordpress posts can have as parent a category, not a page. When you create a post, you must specify a category for it to be placed under.

@ripple: For now you cannot change the movie picture size. Just checked your site and it looks you are using a theme that needs a custom key field in order to show you those thumbnails.

I installed the script and it pulls all the text perfectly but the images generate a ‘cannot stream’ error. Any suggestions?

@Scott: You can go to http://www.imdb.com/Sections/Genres/ and browse the movies by genres.
From there you can select and copy all links at once.

I uploaded the plugin via wordpress and when I select install now it says “this plugin has an invalid header”. It doesn’t show up on the plugins list. What is the problem?

You do not have to upload it to your wp-plugins folder but to blog.com/movieautomator

I have a few questions:

1) How many films can we add to our blog per day? Can I add hundreds? thousands?

2) If I add that many, will IMDB block my IP?

3) Do you have a recommended number of films you add per day maximum?

I have imported up to 1000 movies/day and had no problems. Also I had customers importing way more and they didn’t got blocked.

In short, you can import as many you want but I would recommend you to schedule them like max 50 movies/day so SE bots will not have to index thousands of pages from start, but gradually.

I wanted badly to buy this script but I have seen about ten sites using your script and none of them are importing tags whatsoever. Importing 1000 movies with one click is cool but what’s up with having to manually input tags?

I want to buy this but i’ve seen it in other sites and it doesn’t import tags. I would also like for this to import tv shows as tvshowname season 1 episode 9 instead of tvshow name the weather is right. Is there a way of changing the import style for tv shows and a way of importing the tags corresponding to that show episode or movie?

Also, I would have to modify MovieAutomator to show the images from there, so I will need that link.

Collecting hundreds of links manually is really boring

and while I’m here, a billboard album chart version of this would be cool too if you are in the mood
